Pakistan's First Internet Browser

A 19-year- old resident of Karachi, Sheikh Imran Ahmed, has designed a web browser 'Xtravo Explorer' which is powered by Microsoft Internet Explorer.

A statement here on Friday said that the beta version of Xtravo has grabbed the attention of the Internet users within few days of its release on www.jawoco.com and has been picked up/reviewed by international software websites such as www.softpedia.com.

It said that the browser by the Pakistani teenager is being downloaded on a massive scale and is receiving good reviews from its users who claim it to be very user friendly.

According to the users of Xtravo Explorer, even though it's powered by IE shell engine, it is comparatively better in performance, offers handy options which no other browser offers to date and is faster.

It offers tab browsing, image grabbing and a secure environment which blocks pop-ups and unwanted pages.

Imran has just completed A level and is interested in pursuing further studies abroad.

10 Google Search Tips and Tricks

Generate a Productive Search:

The first thing you must do to generate a productive search is think. You need to think about what it is you really want. You really have to search Google for the words or phrases that will be *on the page you want, not for a description of the page or website. So if you are looking for a comparative review of wireless telephones, you will probably get more results from a list of names such as SmartPhone, Audiovox, Motorola, and so on, than the words “comparative review of wireless phones”.

Use of Quotation Marks

Use Quotation marks to force finding a specific phrase. When you surround your phrase with quotation marks, the search engine will only return results exactly matching the entire phrase. This is an extremely powerful search technique, and yet it is not used by the majority of web searchers. If you search on the two words George and Washington, you will get over 8 million results. If you put quotation marks around the entire name, your results will be restricted to about 3 million. And if your search is on “George Washington” “Cherry Tree”, you will only get about 12,600 results. You get the picture. This is especially important if your search contains what are called “stop words” - words that Google is designed to ignore, such as “and” “of” and “the”. By including these inside your quoted phrase, you will get more targeted search results.

Use of Plus (+) and Minus (-) Signs:

Use the Plus (+) and Minus (-) Signs. The plus sign just before a search term means “This MUST be found in the search”. Conversely, if you find a lot of search results that include a specific product, word, phrase, or item that you do not want to see, you can put a minus sign before that word or phrase, and those results will be excluded from your search. You can even exclude domains or top-level domains from your search.

Using WildCards:

Use the Asterisk (*) As a WildCard search term. Yes, you can insert an asterisk in your search phrase and it will act as a wild card matching any word in that place in the phrase. Not only that, but you can insert more than one asterisk in place of more than one word in your search phrase, up to the limit of ten search words - and the wild card markers are not counted toward this ten word limit.

The Site: Command:

Use the site: command. If you are interested in finding examples of the term XMLHttp, but only on sizlopedia.com, then you can create a search like this: site:knowledgebase-script.com XMLHTTP This will restrict your search to only pages belonging to that web site. You will notice that in regular Google searches, if there are more than two results from that site, the second result will be indented and there will be a link “More results from …” - this automatically uses the site: qualifier.

Using The Operators:

Use the operators. Besides the site: command, Google understands a range of operators that include filetype: (eg doc, xls, or pdf), intext: and allintext:, intitle: and allintitle:, inurl: and allinurl:, author: (in Google Groups) and location: (in Google News). Google also understands a logical OR, provided it is upper case. This means you can search for a bar in Orlando OR Miami for example. It is useful when targets of searches have alternative or variable spellings: outsourcing bombay OR mumbai. The OR command can be shortened to a vertical bar (|), as in outsourcing bombay | mumbai. Another way of adding alternatives is to use a tilde character (~). Thus if you search for ~food, Google also searches for cooking, cuisine, nutrition, recipes and restaurants. You have a lot of power and flexibility; you just have to make some notes and learn the language that the search engine understands so that you can speak to it. The search engine doesn’t get mad or take offense - provided that you know its language, it will do exactly what you tell it to!

Use The Advanced Search Page:

Use the Advanced Search Page. Fortunately, you don’t need to memorize all of the above tricks, since they are conveniently offered to you in various combinations in the Advanced Search option which is always available from the main Google search page.

Use Google Groups:

Use Google Groups. Google has the most complete archive of usenet and other news posts going back over 20 years. By simply switching tabs from Web to Groups, your search term(s) will be repeated on the Groups archives. I cannot stress how valuable this can be- many, many times when I have not found a proper result on the web, by simply switching to Google Groups I’ve been able to find exactly what I was looking for.

Use New Advanced Search Features:

Use new advanced search features. Google has a number of new features including Google Local, Google News (news items from newspapers and other publications around the globe), Froogle - which searches for the best prices on products, and the Dictionary - to get the spelling and / or definition of a word. In fact, if you may have misspelled a word in your search, Google’s dictionary will remind you with a link that says “Did you mean: Correct Spellings” and clicking that link will correct your search. Google also provides an Images search facility that brings back results filled with actual images on web pages that match your search terms. One of the lastest new offerings is a mobile SMS search that allows you to send an SMS message to google with your search terms for a restaurant and zipcode, somebody’s name and address, or whatever, and get back the results to your cellphone in seconds.

Use Correct Characters:

When you are researching something in a foreign (non-English) language, use the correct characters. E.g. the German word “Wörterbuch” (dictionary) — “worterbuch” doesn’t do the job, as it lacks the Umlaut-character.

Now Remove New folder.exe or regsvr.exe or autorun.inf virus

I want to tell you a story, two days back i got affected by this virus very badly as it eat up all my empty hard disk space of around 700 MB .

I was surprised that my most reliable friend Avast, for the first time failed me in this war against viruses but then again avg and bitdiffender also failed against it. This virus is know popularly as regsvr.exe virus, or as new folder.exe virus and most people identify this one by seeing autorun.inf file on their pen drives, But trend micro identified it as WORM_DELF.FKZ. It is spreading mostly using pen drives as the medium.

Well, so here is the story of how i was able to kill the monster and reclaim my hard disk space.

Manual Process of removal

I prefer manual process simply because it gives me option to learn new things in the process.

So let’s start the process off reclaiming the turf that virus took over from us.

1. Cut The Supply Line

a. Search for autorun.inf file. It is a read only file so you will have to change it to normal by right clicking the file , selecting the properties and un-check the read only option
b. Open the file in notepad and delete everything and save the file.
c. Now change the file status back to read only mode so that the virus could not get access again.
d.
e. Click start->run and type msconfig and click ok
f. Go to startup tab look for regsvr and uncheck the option click OK.
g. Click on Exit without Restart, cause there are still few things we need to do before we can restart the PC.
h. Now go to control panel -> scheduled tasks, and delete the At1 task listed their.

2. Open The Gates Of Castle
a. Click on start -> run and type gpedit.msc and click Ok.
b.
c. If you are Windows XP Home Edition user you might not have gpedit.msc in that case download and install it from Windows XP Home Edition: gpedit.msc and then follow these steps.

d. Go to users configuration->Administrative templates->system
e. Find “prevent access to registry editing tools” and change the option to disable.
f.
g. Once you do this you have registry access back.
3. Launch The Attack At Heart Of Castle
a. Click on start->run and type regedit and click ok
b. Go to edit->find and start the search for regsvr.exe,
c.
d. Delete all the occurrence of regsvr.exe; remember to take a backup before deleting. KEEP IN MIND regsvr32.exe is not to be deleted. Delete regsvr.exe occurrences only.
e. At one ore two places you will find it after explorer.exe in theses cases only delete the regsvr.exe part and not the whole part. E.g. Shell = “Explorer.exe regsvr.exe” the just delete the regsvr.exe and leave the explorer.exe

4. Seek And Destroy the enemy soldiers, no one should be left behind
a. Click on start->search->for files and folders.
b. Their click all files and folders
c. Type “*.exe” as filename to search for
d. Click on ‘when was it modified ‘ option and select the specify date option
e. Type from date as 1/31/2008 and also type To date as 1/31/2008
f.
g. Now hit search and wait for all the exe’s to show up.
h. Once search is over select all the exe files and shift+delete the files, caution must be taken so that you don’t delete the legitimate exe file that you have installed on 31st January.
i. Also selecting lot of files together might make your computer unresponsive so delete them in small bunches.
j. Also find and delete regsvr.exe, svchost .exe( notice an extra space between the svchost and .exe)

5. Time For Celebrations
1. Now do a cold reboot (ie press the reboot button instead) and you are done.
I hope this information helps you win your own battle against this virus. Soon all anti virus programs will be able to automatically detect and clean this virus. Also i hope Avast finds a way to solve this issues.
As a side note i have found a little back dog( win-patrol ) that used to work perfectly on my old system. It was not their in my new PC, I have installed it again , as I want to stay ahead by forever closing the supply line of these virus. You can download it form Winpatrol website.

~*Windows Seven Installation Step by Step With Screen Shots*~

This is a screenshots of all the major elements and specific instructions on what choices to make when asked. This is as easy as it gets. If you want to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 and are looking for a step-by-step guide, complete with screenshots, you’re in the right place. Many Windows users have been waiting for Windows 7 for a while now but not everyone welcomes the installation process, however easy it may seem. So here is a step-by-step walkthrough of the installation process complete with descriptions of each step and screenshots so you can keep your bearings during the installation.

Step 1: Boot the computer from the Windows 7 installation DVD of your choice. Picking either the 32bit or 64bit depends on whether your hardware can support

Step 2: Press any key when prompted.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 3 : Choose your preferred language from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Click on the Install Now button unless you want to explore the other options.

Step 5: Check “I accept the license terms” box.

Step 6: Select the Custom (advanced) install option. The upgrade path is for those who want to upgrade an existing copy of Windows. You are of course free to do this, but it is much better to install a fresh copy, especially if using Windows 7 for the first time.

Step 7: So this is what you get after you click Custom on the previous screen. I suppose this could be a little confusing for the non geek installer, especially if there is a list of multiple partitions. Though by now I'm sure a lot of casual users have gotten somewhat of a grasp on what a hard drive is. I hope so anyway. I didn't go to the Advanced tab to do any partitioning or formatting, as I had one partition on this test I just clicked next.

Step 8: Alright, let the installation begin! Here setup copies archives over for extraction and installation on the hard drive.

Step 9:The files copied over pretty fast, now on to the extraction process. This didn't take long at all, about 6 minutes.

Step 10: OK, so files were extracted, now setup needs a restart to continue. No big deal, this part of the process went by quickly. Cue the boot images from the start of this blog.

Step 11: OK, so here we are, after the reboot and right back at it. Windows 7 starts services to continue installation.

Step 12: A quick glance back over to Windows 7's installation progress bar. I think really just to see the "Completing Installation" text. Cute.

Step 13: Alright, if my new Windows 7 wants a restart before it shows me my desktop goodness, then a restart it gets!

Step 14: Right to action! I love it, at this point I can almost feel Windows 7 running through all 4GB of RAM and both cores. So here we go, lets pick a username! (and password if you want, Windows 7 is good like that)

Step 15: A change from Vista, here on the Windows 7 installation it asks for the product after Windows is installed, for both systems though you can hit next without putting in a product key, this will install Windows 7 in a 30 day trial mode.

Step 16: It's always good to set the clock! Windows 7 needs to know what time it is! You can really leave this as anything, just set your time zone and date. Once Windows 7 loads you can click on the clock and update from the Internet. Though I'm sure most people have previously set the time on their PCs, so Windows 7 should have that here already - just might need to change the timezone

Step 17: Picking the network location. Just as in Windows Vista, Windows 7 wants to know where you are, this determines how the OS will set file sharing and network discovery settings

Step 18: And here Windows 7 sets those settings for file sharing and network discovery. If you can remember the misery of setting up a network adapter in Windows 3.x or Windows 95, you might get a feeling of satisfaction at this screen. I know I did.

Step 19: Cool new feature for a Home group. This feels like setting up a Media Extender. I like the idea, even more security for your networked files, and with an 1-2-3 setup like just entering a network code in to Windows 7 to automatically join together it's even easier than setting up Windows shares and editing network properties, like a workgroup.

Step 20: At this point - I can taste it! It just feels like it's almost done and I can't wait. Windows 7 here we come!

Step 21: Yes, Windows 7 welcomes me! I can feel it, I'm only seconds away from my full glory of Windows 7 beta 1 installed and running!

Step 22: Nice, Thanks Windows 7 - I always like having a nice prepared desktop! (Curious though, as after Vista they did away with all the desktop icons - though most OEMs put them back. Really folks, try to get rid of the icons, you're using your desktop and don't need to minimize a window to get to something you access from the start menu - think intuitively)

Step 23: And I'm in! Windows 7 sets up a few things super fast and...

My Windows 7 beta 1 desktop is here! Ready to go! Overall a pretty easy installation really. This would be a breeze to walk someone over the phone with, and most some-what savvy computer people can surely do this on their own. I didn't need any special computer knowledge, or really any knowledge beyond reading to understand this. A good installation in my book, even installing Linux these days is just as simple, as is OS X.

[Java] Google Earth For Mobiles ..

What is MGMaps?

Mobile GMaps is a FREE application that displays Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps and MSN Virtual Earth maps and satellite imagery on Java J2ME-enabled mobile phones, PDAs and other devices.

Mobile GMaps is distributed under the Attribution/NonCommercial/NoDerivs Creative Commons license. You may download, use and distribute the application free of charge for non-commercial purposes. You may NOT use it for any commercial purpose.

Before you download and install Mobile GMaps, make sure you have support for:

J2ME (Java) on your phone — MGMaps runs on devices that support CLDC 1.0 and MIDP 1.0 or later. The vast majority of GSM phones sold in the last three years support Java/J2ME, so unless you are using an antique phone, this shouldn't be an issue. If you are not sure, you can check here and here (warning: the list may be incomplete).

Web access from Java programs running on your phone — the java program must be able to access the web in order to download map and satellite tiles. While the MIDP 1.0 standard does require HTTP support, some of the phones that only support WAP (and not regular Internet) rewrite requests and you might need to configure a proxy (Samsung X450 is such a phone)... For more information, see the documentation section and the section about proxy configuration in the FAQ.

Internet or WAP enabled with your carrier provider — WAP access is usually cheaper but does not work for some phone/provider combinations. For optimum performance, a broadband connection, like EDGE or 3G (WCDMA) is recommended. See the configuration section for more info.

Download and Install

Installation instructions:

Visit the WAP site from your mobile phone. This is the recommended way of installing Mobile GMaps.

If the above does not work for some reason (e.g. your phone does not support WAP 2.0), you will have to take the longer path. You'll have to download the JAD and JAR file(s) on your computer, upload them to your phone (using bluetooth, infrared, or serial/USB cable), then install the application. This may not work for some phones that only allow J2ME installations over WAP.

If the installation is successful, you should find MGMaps in the list of installed Java applications for most phones, in the main menu for Symbian phones, or in the "Java Games" menu for some Samsung phones. You should read the Getting started section before starting to use the program

Google Chrome Operating System

Google's blog announces a natural extension of the Chrome project: an operating system for netbooks. "Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. (...) Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel."

As people use more and more web applications, the operating system becomes less important and it makes no sense to pay for it. The desktop mail client could be replaced by Gmail, the calendaring application could be replaced by Google Calendar, the office suite has lightweight alternatives: Google Docs and Zoho, it makes more sense to use an online feed reader like Google Reader, your scientific calculator is less powerful than Wolfram Alpha and you'll rarely need a video player when you have YouTube, Hulu and other video sites.

This idea is not new and there are already operating systems optimized for the browser. For example, Good OS announced last year Cloud, an operating system that "integrates a web browser with a compressed Linux operating system kernel for immediate access to Internet, integration of browser and rich client applications, and full control of the computer from inside the browser". If Google manages to create a great user interface, the new operating system could be very successful.

DDR1 vs DDR2

Memory Speed and overheating

There are a number of upgrades that come with the new DDR2 technology over DDR1 memory. DDR2 memory is of course faster, and will ultimately reach clock speeds of 667MHz or higher as opposed to the top functional speed of DDR1 at 400MHz. The higher speeds of DDR 2 memory allow it to have up to 10.6GB per seconds of throughput - quite a bit more than DDR1 memory which maxed at 6.4GB per second. The feature that makes these higher speeds practical is the reduced power consumption of DDR2, which runs at only 1.8 volts. Heat is one of the real banes of IC's, and the faster you try and clock a chip the hotter it runs and the less reliable it gets. One of the speed limitations of DDR1 was that at 2.5 volts created too much heat and was simply too hot to run consistently at speeds greater than 400MHz. DDR2's 1.8 volts combined with a much smaller (FBGA) chip package goes a long way towards solving the heat issue at higher speeds.

Cas Latency issues

DDR2 is also reversing the trend of faster and faster CAS Latency. SDRAM was originally CAS 3 though CAS 2 became popular later on with PC100 and in some PC133 modules. The problem with putting the burst cycles so close together is that the faster you push the chips, the more unstable they become. This is why, after moving to CAS 2 in a lot of PC100 components, the standard for PC133 reverted to CAS 3. DDR1 came out with two different speeds CAS 2 and CAS 2.5, though there were some chips that were available with 3-3-3 timing as well. There were some problems when DDR was released getting the modules to work consistently, and when DDR 400 started becoming available there were problems again, some of them related to Latency. The industry seems to have recognized this, and the JEDEC standard for DDR 2 is CAS 3 and even CAS 4 in some cases. This will go a long way towards making the modules more stable. There will be a small decrease in number of functions a stick will be able to perform per second, but the decrease will be so minor as to be unnoticeable and will be more than made up for in dramatically increased stability

BAD SECTOR

Bad Sectors:
To make it easy for all of to understand what a bad sector is I will try to explain it away from the technical terms. Consider you have a piece of paper and the entire paper is the writable zone where your hard disk saves information. On this piece of paper we draw lines to divide it in small squares. One small square represents a sector of your hard disk, and if we divide one square in to 4 squares we can obtain, imaginary of course, 4 cluster. Ok know you want to write a sentence on the paper. You will notice that there no room to write the sentence in only one small square and you will need a certain amount of squares from different portions of the paper; know write down your sentence.
After that take scissor and cut a word from the sentence in the middle of it. You as a person can still read the sentence because we can realize what word is creating problem from the sentence but a computer to show you that sentence needs all of the words to reproduce it for you. The part that you cut from the sentence is our Bad Block, and now you can understand how the hard disk functions. And all of you know that on the driver is more then a sentence written, and that it contains millions of letters and numbers and also holds information about all of the boards, along whit their drivers, that are in your personal computer.
Some surface errors have connections with the hardware equipment of the computer directly and can create physically bad sectors on the hard drive, and that means a cluster from the hard disk sector is unreadable. The writing action on the hard disk is possible thanks to a “writing head” that revolves at a distance of 0.3 microns over the writable layer of the disk. If one or more heads actually touch the writable disk the chance to destroy that cluster is almost 100%.
By definition, the bad sectors are a portion of writable part of hard disk that can not be read or write. So because of this definition the data that are on the bad sectors may be lost forever.
You can be easily come to know that your hard disk have bad sectors, most of the time are errors that appear because of the more often alerts from the partition or the Windows.
Bad sectors also known as simple as “bad” can appear to any hard disk after a time of function. In most of the cases the bad sectors that appear are not in a bigger quantity from your stocking space (about 0.01% for newer hard disk). For the new generation of hard disk there are some spare clusters just for these problems. When a bad sector appears the safety measure remove the information that it contains to a spear cluster and it avoids the lost of data or the corruption of the data.
In a generally idea a bad sector is a big problem for your hard disk and for your entire computer. There are some programs that can repair them if there are not physically and are from data corruption.
To fix Bad Sectors
Let’s try to explain the question that grinds us all when we talk about the hard disk. Can we actually repair a bad block? Before of the answer you must find some information about what is a hard disk, how does it work, what are bad blocks? After that you must identify them because you will need the exact location of the affected sectors. After you have done that you must follow few steps:
Before you try to resolve the problem with the bad sector you must extract the data that was written to that block. To do this you must run a Recovery program that you can find freeware on the net.
Bad sectors are unreadable parts on your hard disk but the nature of them must not be always physically and that part of the platens to be destroyed. Let’s suppose that you have a 20 gigabits partition on your hard disk that has bad sectors. After the identification program it will indicate you where are the blocks situated on the partition. So this way you can allocate them in to another partition that you must never use again. Another scenario can be created and the bad sectors can be at the beginning of the partition in the middle of it and at the end of the partition. I know it’s a little bit tricky because you can’t just go on and create three new partitions to eliminate the bad sectors from use. In this case most of the new hard disk has a spare space available just for this type of scenarios. You must access the CASH memory of the hard disk and indicates to the hard disk that instead of writing down on the effected blocks it must write to the spare blocks, in other words hide the bad blocks.
Another way to restore the hard disk is to use the low level format option. Many of you may think that low level format is a program . Wrong! The low level format option is set for any BIOS and can be easily use if you know some command line programming, like Disk Operating System (DOS). The low level format can take to be complete a very long period of time but in the most cases we can obtain marvelous results. Actually the low level option takes every cluster of the hard disk and identifies them again and writes down on the memory of the hard disk what sectors can be written and witch blocks are un-writable. This procedure is the best that can be because it will need no effort from your side to try and avoid the bad blocks that already exists and the hard disk itself know where the bad blocks are.
In conclusion the bad blocks can’t be fixed. The problem is a permanent and we can only try to use the hard disk until it is dead for good. But if you are having financial problem this is a best way to keep going with your old hard disk. Some programs like Flobo HDD repair and HDD Regenerator are well-known in regard to hide the bad sectors.

DHCP(Dynamic Host Communication Protocol)

History
RFC 1531 initially defined DHCP as a standard-track protocol in October 1993, succeeding the Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP). The next update, RFC 2131 released in 1997 is the current DHCP definition for Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) networks. The extensions of DHCP for IPv6 (DHCPv6) were published as RFC 3315.

Technical overview
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol automates network-parameter assignment to network devices from one or more fault-tolerant DHCP servers. Even in small networks, DHCP is useful because it can make it easy to add new machines to the network.

When a DHCP-configured client (a computer or any other network-aware device) connects to a network, the DHCP client sends a broadcast query requesting necessary information from a DHCP server. The DHCP server manages a pool of IP addresses and information about client configuration parameters such as default gateway, domain name, the DNS servers, other servers such as time servers, and so forth. On receiving a valid request, the server assigns the computer an IP address, a lease (length of time the allocation is valid), and other IP configuration parameters, such as the subnet mask and the default gateway. The query is typically initiated immediately after booting, and must complete before the client can initiate IP-based communication with other hosts.

Depending on implementation, the DHCP server may have three methods of allocating IP-addresses:

dynamic allocation: A network administrator assigns a range of IP addresses to DHCP, and each client computer on the LAN has its IP software configured to request an IP address from the DHCP server during network initialization. The request-and-grant process uses a lease concept with a controllable time period, allowing the DHCP server to reclaim (and then reallocate) IP addresses that are not renewed (dynamic re-use of IP addresses).
automatic allocation: The DHCP server permanently assigns a free IP address to a requesting client from the range defined by the administrator. This is like dynamic allocation, but the DHCP server keeps a table of past IP address assignments, so that it can preferentially assign to a client the same IP address that the client previously had.
static allocation: The DHCP server allocates an IP address based on a table with MAC address/IP address pairs, which are manually filled in (perhaps by a network administrator). Only requesting clients with a MAC address listed in this table will be allocated an IP address. This feature (which is not supported by all routers) is variously called Static DHCP Assignment (by DD-WRT), fixed-address (by the dhcpd documentation), DHCP reservation or Static DHCP (by Cisco/Linksys), and IP reservation or MAC/IP binding (by various other router manufacturers).

Technical details
DHCP uses the same two ports assigned by IANA for BOOTP: 67/udp for the server side, and 68/udp for the client side.

DHCP operations fall into four basic phases: IP discovery, IP lease offer, IP request, and IP lease acknowledgment.

DHCP servers which are in the same subnet has all the 4 messages as broadcast whereas if DHCP server is in different subnet than 1,3 messages are broadcast and 2,4 messages are unicast (via router *read DHCP relay (viral gadha))

7 Ways to increase battery timing

Tip 1: Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.

It happens a lot of times that after transferring a file via Bluetooth we forget to switch it off. So when you are not using it for any purpose it is wise to turn off Wi-Fi , Bluetooth and even Infrared on your mobile. These continuously draw power from your battery hence reducing its life.

Tip 2: Decrease brightness of the display

If you have an option to decrease the brightness of the display then choose a level which has medium brightness and not too high. Nokia’s smartphones light sensor helps adjust your display brightness according to the external lighting conditions, so keep it switched on at all times.

Also when running short of battery, do not waste battery by turning on the display for unnecessary purposes. Also when you know you will be away from a power source for a long time, reduce the brightness of the display to minimum.

Another handy tip is that you can reduce the time of back-light duration according to your need.

Tip 3: Disable vibration and ringtones

Vibrating alert is a feature that uses a whole lot of battery life, so disable it when you do not need it. It really sucks up battery life fast so do not use it when short of battery life.

Disabling ringtones in an emergency situation is recommended to save a bit of your battery life. Also use low volumes on the ringtones as the louder the ringtone, the shorter the battery life.

Tip 4: Close unwanted applications

In a smartphone various applications keep running in the background which utilize your phone resources which all use of your battery. So check for any unnecessary applications that might be running and terminate them. Music, videos,GPRS are very demanding on the battery so avoid using them when low of battery power.

Tip 5: Turn phone off when no network

When you are in an area where your mobile provider has no network or the place has cellphone jammers installed, switch off the phone. Your cellphone continuously searches for the signal which uses the battery very fast. This is applicable when you walk through long subway or drive in underground tunnels. If your phone has an offline mode, then use it to good effect in such a situation.

Tip 6: Charge and discharge tips

This one is very important in the long run. Many of us tend to charge the battery when it has been used only midway. This is not a healthy for the battery as more charge/discharge cycles on the battery means lower battery life. Charge the battery only when you are low on power. Also it is recommended to fully discharge the battery once a month to ensure its proper functioning.

Tip 7: Battery maintenance tips

It is important to take care of your battery. It is very important to keep your battery away from moisture as it can severely damage your battery. So take care of it in rainy season especially. Also do not bring it near high heat which is harmful for the battery.

When you do not intend to the use the phone for a few days then remove the battery and store it in a cool and dry place. Do not play around with the battery as a shock can render it useless.

These tips can go a long way to help you increase your battery life. Have any other tips? Go ahead and share them with us.

COMPUTER...................

A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a set of instructions.

Although mechanical examples of computers have existed through much of recorded human history, the first electronic computers were developed in the mid-20th century (1940–1945). These were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers (PCs).[1] Modern computers based on integrated circuits are millions to billions of times more capable than the early machines, and occupy a fraction of the space.[2] Simple computers are small enough to fit into a wristwatch, and can be powered by a watch battery. Personal computers in their various forms are icons of the Information Age and are what most people think of as "computers". The embedded computers found in many devices from MP3 players to fighter aircraft and from toys to industrial robots are however the most numerous.

The ability to store and execute lists of instructions called programs makes computers extremely versatile, distinguishing them from calculators. The Church–Turing thesis is a mathematical statement of this versatility: any computer with a certain minimum capability is, in principle, capable of performing the same tasks that any other computer can perform. Therefore computers ranging from a mobile phone to a supercomputer are all able to perform the same computational tasks, given enough time and storage capacity.
